Made it to Birmingham, but the last part of the trip was a horror. More later when I've had some sleep.

Terminating Service for 8chan. new.blog.cloudflare.com/termin

It's official: is dropping support for 8chan. They specifically mention the recent White Supremacist shootings and their connections to 8chan.

"We just sent notice that we are terminating 8chan as a customer effective at midnight tonight Pacific Time. The rationale is simple: they have proven themselves to be lawless and that lawlessness has caused multiple tragic deaths."

Is this the worst code in Github? github.com/raxod502/TerrariaCl

It has an open issue titled, "Anyone who looks at this code instantly becomes insane." github.com/raxod502/TerrariaCl

The README says, "… I produced 11,000 lines of, to date, the most atrocious code I have ever seen in my life. I make it available here mostly as a cautionary tale of what can happen if you don't pay attention to the quality of your code."

Are there #ActivityPub implementations/forks that should be added to this Alternative.to list? Please let me know: alternativeto.net/list/5696/ac

Thinking of playing around with a custom DNS server. Found dnslib for . pydoc.net/dnslib/0.9.7/dnslib/

Looks like an easy way to do some PoCs of my ideas. There's even a simple example of an intercepting resolver.

You can focus any window in the sphere, choosing it with a hand action, at which point it centers and expands, without spherical mapping distortion. Basically it pops out of the sphere and into the visual space right in front of you.

There is a popup menu with a listing of the window groups, so you can jump the sphere to that group. Other menu controls let you save or restore groups, size them smaller or larger or otherwise manage the windows.

So, what do I mean by, "… my idea of a perfect desktop?"

Imagine you are sitting in the center of a sphere. The inner surface of the sphere is your desktop and you have windows arranged around it, possibly grouped by project or use-case. You have a foot control that can rotate the sphere on two axis, x and y. (Rotation speed is slow to avoid VR sickness.)

Moving the to another reality. collabora.com/news-and-blog/ne

This is cool as hell! They have made it possible to view and manipulate desktop windows in using googles. This is halfway to my idea of a perfect desktop.

My tomatoes are ripening right now, pulled the first three fully red ones off tonight. I forgot just how good a truly fresh tomato is, when eaten like an apple with a little salt and pepper.

I planted too many of them. I guess I'll be freezing tomatoes this year.

The tag is trending over on the birdsite. I think anyone with a birdsite account should pile on until it gets the top trending slot.

Dear American Express, mining my charge data and sending me an email with 'Helpful Information for Your Upcoming Trip' is not the kind of customer support I want. It's too much like a stalker sending you advice about your eating habits.

Harvard School and the Propagation of Immoral Profit Strategies. newsweek.com/2017/04/14/harvar

There have always been those who place personal and business profit over morality and even basic human dignity. But Milton Friedman and the Harvard Business School devaluing morality and ethics, and encouraging 'whatever you can get away with' as a business tactic, is pretty much unadulterated .

There are times when it's a REALLY GOOD THING no one else can know what's going on inside your head, that stuff you wouldn't tell anyone. The important thing to remember is, this is true of everyone else as well.

Rusted Neuron – an Intentional Community

Rusted Neuron is an invitation-only 'Intentional Community'. It is not intended to represent a specific focus, although the people you find here are generally intelligent, creative, and witty. Content and conduct rules are set by the community, not by fiat. The one thing we will not tolerate here is intolerance; you can agree to disagree, but you must treat others with respect.

Currently the membership limit is 100 people and there are plenty of slots available. The goal is to try to replicate real-world community interaction and norms enforcement online. Keeping it small is intended to create a village atmosphere by staying well under Dunbar's Number.
